The developments of economic and society, the advance in technology both have nowadays deeply affected the way of construction and movement of the electrical network. Big changes have taken place in the nature and status of the electrical network planning, making it faced with many challenges and problems. The planning of electric power network involves many aspects, has great coverage. We introduce geographic information system (GIS) into the system of network planning and management can greatly improve the management of planning data, making planning a more interactive, intuitive, improve labor efficiency of staff, and will have broad prospects for development. As an important part of network planning, electrical calculation urgent needs a graphical software package at present which has highly efficiency, maintainable, and good interactive interface. Meanwhile, for load forecasting is the basis for network planning, spatial load forecasting has become a research focus at the present stage. Under the direct of my teacher, I considered the deficiency of the software at present and further learned the drawing of power system wiring diagram, the realization of electrical calculation and spatial load forecasting on the GIS platform. Software based GIS for network planning and management is developed on windows XP platform by using VB, SQL Server 2000 database, and integrating Maplnfo through OLE.This article has the following components:1. Drawing the electrical wiring diagram in MaplnfoMapping the electric wiring diagram in Geographic Information System is the indispensable function of power GIS. Main process of program development is as follows:first, making of graphic symbols of various electrical components in MapInfo table. Second, the MapInfo table for drawing electrical wiring diagram is prepared, projection type and table structure is set. Then the custom drawing tool button is created in software, and the code for drawing graphics is write. Finally, it gets the capabilities of input and query the parameters and running status. Due to the powerful function of MapInfo, power system wiring diagram is equipped with zoom, rotation, move and other convenient and practical functions. For the parameters and status of all electrical components are stored in MapInfo, it's very convenient to modify and query. Besides, it can be adopted in MapInfo-based programs on management of electrical equipment.2. Electrical calculation on power system wiring diagramFor the coordinates of electrical components'connection points have been stored in the corresponding property field of Maplnfo table automatically during inputting their parameters. So it is achieved to the automatic recognition of topological relations. Then, it comes to Processing parameters of electrical components automatically according to their different types and forming the required network parameters needed for electrical calculation. Finally is the electrical calculation procedures, results can be automatically marked in the electrical wiring diagram.3. Spatial load forecastingI studied the common methods of spatial load forecasting, and explored the application of spatial load forecasting in GIS preliminary. As the Load density method is widely used in China, I have done the following work about achieving the function of spatial load forecasting in software by using classified-divisional load density method. Firstly, I create the MapInfo table for spatial load forecasting and the corresponding database. Then, dividing the server area into some regular sub-districts through programming. The last is the function of input and query the parameters of sub-district.
