City is the key of low carbon and emission reduction. Energy consumption of traffic is one of the main energy consumption. The low carbon transition of urban traffic is the key of establishing the future"low carbon"city. However, the urban morphology and the urban traffic cannot be separated, and they are interacted with each other. Under this condition, from the aspect of studying low carbon transition of urban traffic, this paper investigates the features of urban morphology under this influence, and further puts forward planning strategies. This article, which is based on practices and analyses of low-carbon urban transportation in various cities from home and abroad, summarized the changes in the four modes of urban transportation low-carbon urban transition: the increasingly strengthened rail traffic, the increasingly perfect public traffic, the returned trend of slow-moving traffic and the increasingly popular new types of traffic. And the four main characteristics that result from those four modes—economization of traffic facilities, the high efficiency of transportation organization, diversity of traffic types and cleansing of traffic energy have also been summarized. This article also analyze and summarize the impact of city transportation low-carbon transition on city morphology, i.e. the strengthening of rail traffic on city morphology, the perfection of public transportation on city morphology, the returning of slow-moving traffic on city morphology and the increasingly popular trend of new types of traffic on city morphology. At last, this paper brings forward the planning strategies of the low carbon transition of urban morphology, which include the ideologies of three aspects of planning concept, planning control, planning management and the space countermeasures of low carbon transition of urban morphology. The space countermeasures are the expanding countermeasure of"transition type"urban space, the"space coupling"countermeasure between habitation and employment, the elastic control countermeasure of multiple functional"mix and concentration", the land planning countermeasure of"small neighborhood, high intensity, low density", the countermeasure of"traffic cubist"and"city cubist", and the countermeasure of low carbon traffic"change integration".
