At present, using the merits of link beam brace to improve the rigidity and carrying capacity of structure and realizing to dissipate energy by shear-yield of link beam is a new method to reinforce the RC frames. It has broad prospect in development and application of the building structure. This paper researches the mechanical characteristics and the seismic performance of RC frames strengthened with Y-eccentrically brace by the pseudo-dynamic test. This paper's conclusions obtained as follows:1. Two RC frames strengthened with Y-eccentrically brace have been conduct, whose scale are 1/3, and launched domestic. The results of the test state that the drift angle of RC frames strengthened with Y-eccentrically is under 1/600 in amax=70gal and under 1/70 in amax=400gal. The RC frames still have the certain strength and deformation in amax=620gal.And the seismic response can satisfy Code for seismic of buildings and the design requirement of no damage under frequent earthquake, repairable damages under basic earthquake and no collapse under rare earthquake.2. The characters of seismic response of the structure model, including acceleration response, base shear response, hysteretic behavior, stiffness degradations and dissipation characteristics are researched by the pseudo-dynamic test. The results of the test state that RC frames strengthened with Y-eccentrically have strong lateral stiffness, ductility and good energy consumption.3. In contrast with two frames'seismic performance, it shows that the length of wrapping has the influence on the frame. And it adds the content of RC frames strengthened with Y-eccentrically brace and supplies the references for the research and design.4. A three-dimension model for time-history analysis has been proposed to analyze modal and dynamic response of model. By comparison results of modal analysis, the result is approximate. In addition, the seismic response is approximately consistent in elastic stage and is little different in plastic stage. And it provides a certain perspective for the numerical simulation.
