With the increasing awareness of society and enterprise economic benefits, power system operation efficiency and security are facing higher requirements. So reducing loss and saving energy have been a focus of the whole community, especially the electricity companies. The transformer, whose loss occupies a large proportion in the power system, is one of the indispensable main equipments of the power supply system. But it is still far from being controlled to a reasonable level. So conducting transformer economy operation to reduce the loss save energy and achieve power system economical operation function is of great practical significance.Economic operation of transformer is making full use of the existing equipments to minimize the loss of the transformer by selecting reasonable operation mode of the transformers, optimal adjusting load curve, the improving operating conditions of transformers and other measures based on ensuring the safe operation of the transformer and guaranting power supply. This thesis firstly reviews the foreign and domestic efforts and achievements in the economic operation and the current problems that still exist; then analyzes some basic principle of transformer and the relevants theoretical knowledge of economic operations, some basic formula of transformer economic operation, including the method of calculating of the loss of active power, reactive power and comprehensive power and the calculations of critical load while transformers switch in different operation modes and so on. It also discusses the judgment basis of advantages and disadvantages of the technical characters of the transformers.Based on the above theory, this thesis highlights the two methods of economic operation of transformers commonly used:the method of critical point and the method of critical section. After analyzing the principles of the two methods, it uses several examples for the study of dynamic and static analysis of economic operation based on the method of critical point and critical section, and then some issues that seem to exist are proposed by the comparison of the loss and the switching frequency. To solve the above problems, this thesis proposes a new method of transformer dynamic economic operation that is the method of critical section combined with the method of time-control. This method requires a certain mastery of load variations rule. Based on obtaining the substation load forecasts of the next day, the operation mode of the transformer is determined by simplifying the forecasting load curve with the method of time-control and then combining the method of critical section. The advantages and disadvantages are discovered by examples between the new method and the methods mentioned earlier. The results show that the new method has a comparative advantage on both the loss of energy and the switching frequency and it can better satisfy the practical needs. In short, this thesis shows a useful discussion on transformer dynamic economic operation and loss reducing analysis. The new method that is metioned has feasibility and superiority.
