Slewing ring is a special large-scale bearing. Because it can be taken integrated load effect, it is widely used in construction machinery and other fields. Slewing ring is one of the key components of engineering machinery. Slewing bearing rely on rolling contact by rolling elements and inner or outer rings of the bearing to support the rotating parts and to transmit force and motion. And therefore, the contact problem is the basis of slewing bearings. It is a direct impact on the carrying capacity and service life of slewing ring. Contact problem is a highly nonlinear problem. This paper analyzed the contact problem of slewing ring by finite element method, and its specific contents as follows:This article first summarizes the development of domestic and international about slewing ring and the situation of the finite element analysis about contact problem. It has introduced comprehensively the contact problem of slewing ring and the finite element method. It is recommended to use the finite element method to analyze the contact problem of slewing ring.Second, article use the QY25 truck crane slewing bearing as a example and analyze the forces of slewing ring through a variety of crane's working conditions. It has come to the conclusions that the lifting load and amplitude have more important effects on force of the slewing large. It has calculated the maximum contact stress and contact ellipse size between the rolling conditions and the inner or outer rings of rotary bearing by Hertz contact theory. And it has provided the theoretical basis for the determination of cell size in the contact area and the creation of contact when the finite element analysis in later.Finally, the article has made a contact analysis on slewing ring of QY25 truck crane by the finite element analysis software ANSYS. And it has compared the calculated results between finite element analysis and Hertz contact theory. Therefore, it has further validated the correctness of the three-dimensional contact model mesh, the contact algorithm and the boundary conditions. And it has analysed the two results. It is show that solving the contact problems by numerical method (finite element analysis) is more convenient, intuitive and accurate. And on the basis, it has analysed the contact problems between rolling elements and inner or outer rings of oval-shaped roller slewing bearing.It has come to the conclusions that oval-shaped roller slewing ring have higher Carrying capacity than round roller slewing ring bearing.
