In 1964, the successful operation of Shinkansen in Japan signifies the coming of the era of modern high speed railway transportation. After more than 40 years of development, such high speed transportation has become the most economical and efficient land transportation system. In the present thesis, based on the Jin-shan Yellow River Bridge on Da-xi Passenger Dedicated Line, bridge design features of high speed railway are introduced and scheme comparison of preliminary design is carried out. This research is focused mainly on the following aspects:1,On combination of the development of high speed railway bridges home and aborad,5 project plans are proposed according to the practice of long span railway bridges in our country. These plans are futher compared and studied from the point of strutural behavior, dynamic character, construction difficulty, landscape effects as well as construction cost. Finally, the combined structure plan with a single T-frame stiffened by steel truss is recommended according to the results of the track analysis.2,Futher investigations are done to evaluate the recommended plan. These investigations consist of bridge layout, profile design, substructure and superstructure of the main span, approach bridge as well as river-training buildings and other hydraulic or protection measures. At last, the main construction appraoches together with the suggestions on construction safety of the recommended plan are introduced.
