With the spread of Global energy crisis, many efforts are paid to find new energy and to promote the efficiency of the traditional energy systems. Due to the significance of electric grid on human society, enhancements of efficiency and stability of electric grid have been widely studied. Smart electric grid would be the next generation of electric grid, which is based on the old electric grid and new science and technology on modern sensors, communication, information technology, computer and automatic control. It is a high intergred electric grid with abilities in the optimization of electric supply, distributed energy resources connecting. It is important to note that Intelligent Distribution is the Key technology in the development of Smart grid, and intelligent distribution is the key part of smart grid as well. However, the traditional decision tools based on Energy Management System cannot meet the requirements of electric grid. Therefore, its intelligence ability should be greatly enhanced.Based on the above discussions, the present paper builds a new Decision Support System (DSS) using the Multi-Agent System (MAS) technology. The MAS is a new intelligent technology, which can be effectively used to design the complicated control software. Hence, research on the applications of MAS in smart distribution has both practical and theatrical importance. In this paper, based on the advantages of MAS, EMS and DSS, a new DSS model has been designed based on MAS. Then the architecture and application of Visual Module in DSS of Smart distribution in electric grid have been introduced in detail. The real-time database of Agent has also been investigated and it was divided into database, knowledge base and model base respectively. By definition of operation conditions and classic events of electric systems, living conditions models of real electric system were designed and it was also the environmental description of modeling software. The communication and coordination mechanisms of the present DSS model have been discussed in detail and a new mobile Agent DSS modelhas been built as well. The environmental description and modeling of Agent DSS modelhas has also introduced in this paper. Finally, the new DSS model based on MAS operated successfully in real smart dispatching apartment.
