Bridge Health Monitoring System is the developing trend of long-span bridge safety ensuring system. Associated with the project, the research on monitoring automation and safety evaluation of bridge structure is investigated in this paper. The program of the whole monitoring system is put forward, and the software design and development is also accomplished.①Based on the objective and functional requirement of establishing the Bridge Health Monitoring System, the load characteristic of specified bridge style is analyzed and the monitoring program is formed by step in the paper. Moreover, the construction process of monitoring system is described in detail.②Determined the structure based condition. With the Finite Element Analysis, We carreyed on the static and mechanical analysis through the finite element analysis software. Discussed structure respond rule under different load function, established the target monitor threshole value.③Using statistical pattern analysis real-time monitoring data, and established short-term and long-term pattern of monitoring data. Based on the two pattern, structure characteristics were found with the external load, provided basis for bridge structure damage identification and condition assessment. Take linear,cable tension and stress assessment for example, examined the feasibility and practicality of assessment method. Developed a comprehensive assessment of Wujiang Bridge software, and achieve real-time online assessment of the bridge.④According to the user requirement analysis, the computer software implemented data management and safety evalution has also been designed and developed. It provides classifying management of monitoring data, displaying the query result with chart and table, data calculation and processing, and other functions. A method of safety evaluation combined Analytic Hierarchy Process is advanced in the paper, and the corresponding software function is achieved too.⑤Combine Wujiang second bridge Health Monitoring System, discuss the method of estimate the traffic load weight with the help of the system. The method can be more accurately estimate the weight, it is based on health surveillance data. And it increases the use and management of auxiliary functions of health system.⑥Proposed the forecast technique of bridge function degeneration tendency. Using the pessimistic system theory to forecast bridge structure degeneration. Pointed out that the bridge structure function degeneration inevitable with the lapse of time.
