Plastic injection tooling has been becoming an important approach in the industrial more and more; somehow, plastic manufacturing capability level highly rely on the tooling quality. So, study the knowledge of tooling development, get a robust system set up in the corporate, it is a must-be step for Chinese Auto related industrial in order to competing with world top level companies and match with the growing car production volume. In the first part of this thesis, study the characters of tooling development knowledge based on the theory of knowledge and knowledge management, also in this part, based on one company work flow of tooling development, identified all needed knowledge which belong to different category and then create a framework so to structure the knowledge as different level, meanwhile, some software applications been introduced and success key points also mentioned in the first part.In the second part of this thesis, different knowledge representation been introduced and based on the actual needs of one company's tooling quote process,2 kind of knowledge representation-framed based and rule based knowledge representation been adopted to present tooling quote knowledge and discussed the implementation methods. In the third part of this thesis, focus on the expert knowledge which people call invisible knowledge, develop the representation method with the 6 sigma management concept, and then create a molding issue solving system with the approach of Case Based Reasoning. The result of this thesis could help engineers in tooling developing process with higher efficiency; avoid the people-relying condition which happed in the old developing process.
