Frictional energy dissipation technology is a very important research direction in structure vibration control because frictional damper can improve seismic performance of structure with easy fabrication, simple installation, and economical applicability. This paper analyzes the hysteretic behaviors of two brace systems respectively by using the finite element software ANSYS12.0, namely, the ordinary steel brace frame system with Pall-typed frictional damper because of Pall-typed frictional damper feature,using ordinary braces simulates steel buckling-restrained braces(Pall-BRBs), and the Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) brace frame system with Pall-typed frictional damper (Pall-SMA).The two type of brace systems with Pall dampers was studied by experiments and simulation analyses.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) We study the hysteretic behaviors of Pall-BRB system by using the finite element software ANSYS12.0 and also analyse the effects of restoring force of damper, the stiffness of brace and the yield force of brace on hysteretic behavior. The analysis results show that the influnences of brace stiffness on restoring force of damper is less influential, and the restoring force of damper can be controlled by the force of sliding friction. Steel buckling-restrained brace(BRB) design formula can be obtained by designing the brace in buckling, and so that the Pall-BRB system can dissipation energies fully.(2) The hysteretic behaviors of Pall-SMA system are analyzed by using the super-elastic of SMA considering the influnences of force of sliding friction, the stiffness and the length of the SMA brace on it's hysteretic behavior. The results indicate that the hysteretic loops of Pall-SMA system is full and its capability to dissipate energy is better, the effects of force of sliding friction and stiffness of SMA brace on Pall-SMA system is obvious, and the influnences of length of SMA brace on Pall-SMA system is little.(3) The experiments and simulation analyses on the Pall-BRB system and the Pall-SMA system are done. Then conclusions are drawn that the steel buckling-restrained brace can easily yield under tension and compression and have good capacity to dissipate energy, and the pressure force change of SMA brace is very little which is advantageous to the good performance of brace. The tests results of two brace systems verify the correctness of the simulation analyses.
