The permanent magnet linear motor with transverse flux configuration is developed based on permanent magnet synchronous motor, featuring both transverse flux and linear drive system. The most notable feature is low-speed, high-thrust. The investigation on transverse flux permanent magnet synchronous linear motors (TFPMLSM) and their application in direct drive systems has become a topic of intense research. This thesis proposes a novel transverse flux linear motor which is named Bidirectional Cross-linking Transverse Flux-PMLSM. This thesis analyzes the motor characteristic, proposes the design method and develops an experimental prototype by the analysis method and FEA.First, we establish the three-dimensional magnetic circuit model and derive the analytical expression of no-load back-EMF and the thrust, analyze the mathematical model of this type of motor and the parameters of the motor equations.Second, the thesis refers to the electromagnetic design method of Bidirectional Cross-linking Transverse Flux PMLSM. Analyze the main sizes and their impact on the performance.Discuss how to design the primary core size,coil and the permanent magnet size.With the principle of maximum thrust density and minimum fluctuation, optimize the main parameters of the motor.Last, the thesis establishes the FEA model of motor. The no-load back-EMF, thrust force are calculated by FEA. With the analysis and simulation result, we design and manufacture a prototype model, and have the experiment. The experimental results are consistent with the theory, proving the design method correct.
