Gear pump is a device that transmit mechanical energy into hydraulic. As one of volumetric pumps, they are widely used in automotive, petroleum, chemicals, construction and other industries. In compared with other types of pumps, gear pump has a simple structure, light weight, low price and easy to manufacturing. However, due to the small displacement, trapped oil seriously, radial force imbalance and other shortcomings severely limit the gear pump applications in some industries. In order to solve these problems, we proposed prismatic shaft oil pump. To a certain extent, these kinds of gear pump can increases the displacement and expanded gear pump's applications range. In the basis of access to a large number of relevant literatures, this paper point out the importance of studying on prismatic shaft oil pump. The paper has done the following researches.After studying meshing rules and operating principle of external gear pump, we design prismatic shaft oil pump's basic structure. In order to compared with the general external gear pump and explain prismatic shaft oil pump's structure advantages, this paper design the dimensions of the rotor and cavity based on KCB-83.3 type gear pump. We used CATIA to establish model of prismatic shaft oil pump and simulation assembly. We find that the prismatic shaft oil pump's oil port position is reasonable and there is no interference during the work process.This paper dynamic simulation for prismatic shaft oil pumps to capture the internal flow changes. We used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software Fluent, select appropriate model and calculation method to analyze the process of work process. We get the transient pressure field and velocity field distribution in different rotor position. We also simulation and analysis the oil speed and discharge of oil outlet port in different space of rotor, chamber wall gap from negative rotor to positive rotor and rotor speed The study found that there is linear relationship between flow and rotor speed. Space of rotor and chamber wall, gap from the negative rotor to positive rotor will influence of gear pump's discharge.Finally, the rotor and synchronous gear for gear pump was analyzed by ANSYS workbench. The results show that the ultimate situation of gear pumping still satisfied design criteria.
