As highway continuously extending into mountain areas, the high rock filled embankment has become the most common embankment form. Statistics about domestic and foreign high rock filled embankment shows that there is an obvious post construction settlement to high rock filled embankment with the duration up to 2 3 years. That is to say there is a significant time effect to the after construction settlement of high rock filled embankment. The creep of rockfill material under high stress becomes large. There are more than 70 meters high embankments within the construction of West shanghai chengdu Highway, therefore the research on time effect of rockfill material is particularly important.The paper, on the basis of West shanghai chengdu highway, has made a long term creep test research on the rockfill material of waterless ditch high rock filled embankment. First, makes a relevance introduction on the preparation programs of creep test scheme and sample of rockfill material, then gets some the physical mechanics properties of rockfill material by triaxial shear test and compression test, also the Duncan Chang model parameters by the analysis on test result. After the research on creep constitutive model of high rock filled embankment, with the analysis on creep test result, the author finds that it can well describe the creep characteristics of rockfill material with nine parameters creep constitutive model. Also gets the parameter values of nine parameters model of rockfill material from the analysis on axial creep and volumetric creep. Carries out uniaxial compression creep tests in order to study the creep properties of rockfill material in uniaxial compression. The comparison shows that uniaxial compression creep is just as the stress of certain grade in triaxial shear creep test. It can be seen if you want to reflect the creep properties of rockfill material under complex state of stress, triaxial shear creep test should be used. The creep properties of rockfill material and model parameters in the paper have a very good guiding value and applying value for the study of after construction settlement to high rock filled embankment.
