It is necessary to take the appropriate technical means to improve the combustion efficiency, because of W-shape boiler's complicated regulation, inefficient combustion, the over-temperature of superheated steam temperature. Under such situations, Image processing-based monitoring and optimal control of combustion is a good choice.Model's building selection are as follows, main steam pressure, load, superheated steam temperature, drum water level , radiation signal as an intermediate variable. The model simulation results can be validated through the running data, which indicate that the radiation signal is capable of reflecting the burning of furnace, without exception influence of the important control parameters by the introduction of radiation signal into the control loop, and verify that the radiation signal can be introduced for combustion optimization. We launched the introduction of the radiation signal on the combustion optimization in Hanfeng Power Plant's 2 # W-shaped boiler. At first, we analysis the relevance of the radiation signal and unit's control parameters. And then manually adjust the air flow simulation of oxygen optimization test, finally set the parameters to optimize the radiation signals into oxygen - air flow control loop .Through the comparison of optimal combustion control as introducing RES into DCS in a W-shaped boiler under the typical low, medium and high load, we confirm that introducing RES into DCS can improve the boiler's efficiency significantly and inhibit the emission of NOx at some extent. This research on Hanfeng Power Plant's 2 # W-shaped boiler plays a significant role in promoting the radiation signal control technology in a wider field of application.
