Gearing is perhaps one of the most critical components in power transmission systems. Some work of the dynamic character of one-stage spur gear reduction is accomplished in this thesis.By using lumped-parameter method, the coupling torsional-transverse dynamic model is proposed to predict the dynamic characteristics of one-stage spur gear transmission system. this model includes time-varying mesh stiffness, mesh damping, bearing stiffness et al. the parametric-excited vibratory dynamic differential equations are also established.Because the mesh stiffnesses have powerful influence of the dynamic behaviors of system, we first use numerical integration to calculate the time varying stiffnesses base on the energy method, then we use MATLAB to fit the curve of stiffness and get the analytic formulation of stiffnesses. The natural characteristic of system is analyzed and natural frequencies and modal shapes are solved based on modal analysis theory. The initial problems for stiff ordinary differential equations are solved by the solver of MATLAB conveniently. The dynamic response of system both in both time domain and frequency domain is examined. The influences of system parameters, such as contact radio, mesh frequencies, mesh damping radio, the stiffness of bearing, to the dynamic behavior of gear transmission system are discussed in this thesis.
