Maintaining the stable, efficient coal combustion has been a constant pursuit for both science research and engineering practice. Along with the IT technology progress, the combustion diagnostic technique which based on image processing has been widely used. This paper introduced a new production Heimann infrared sensor, and carried out a series of experimental research about it:The basic principles and applications of Heimannsensor were described at the beginning. After denying putting gases into the blackbody furnace, we decided to accomplish the calibration of Heimannsensor by the blackbody furnace directly. Through the experiment we found out that the Heimannsensor went into saturation very easily. The radiation signal depends on temperature as well as emissivity. Although 300℃of the blackbody furnace is a low temperature, the emissivity is the maximum 1; but Heimannsensor can directly measure the high temperature cigarette-lighter flame, this is because of low emissivity. An optic filter was used in front of the window in order to reduce the infrared radiation. We firstly started calibration on the 300℃~1300℃blackbody furnace. Then we drew a main curve of K by origin, with the temperature increasing K decreased. Same method was adopted on the 800℃~1600℃blackbody furnace. But the voltage value remained the same all the time. Compared with the low temperature blackbody furnace, we checked out that the glass of the furnace entrance had no transmission in the infrared region. And from this phenomenon we deduced a vital voltage value, we called it basic value. This basic value can help calibrating K by origin again and drew a new curve. With the calibration results, a comparison experiment was carried out on ethylene/air flame. The visible light spectrometer based on two-colour method can get the temperature and emissivity at the same time. Then the infrared emissivity can be calculated and analyzed with the visible light emissivity.
