Fiber optical gyroscope inclinometer (FOGI), which is the innovation of inertial measurement used in petroleum exploration and development, has the virtue of high accuracy, small volume, and less cost. But the tricky problems of the short working time and bad performance of circulation have an influence on the stability and reliability of FOGI, and restrict the use performance of it.Firstly, according to the background of petroleum exploration and development, it has been summarized that the domestic and abroad research development of thermal simulation analysis and optimization design for FOGI.Secondly, thermally induced equivalent phase shift(TIEPS) and thermally induced errors of fiber optical gyroscope(FOG) have been deduced, and the foundation for improving accuracy of FOGI has been laid.Afterwards, the initial design of FOGI has been brought forward, and finite element simulation models has been created. Then the results show that the initial design can meet the need of temperature control in the work process of FOGI. According to the choice and installation of the cooler of FOGI, the simulation analysis (SA) of the effects of electricity cooler with different powers in the cooling-process of FOGI has been made; according to the opening and closure of the jam in FOGI and the out-put and inside-put of coolers in FOGI, SA of the cooling-process of FOGI has been made And the results show that the initial design can meet the need of the cooling-efficiency in the cooling-process of FOGI; the opening and closure of the jam don't have an impact on the cooling-effects; the inside-put of coolers is better than the out-put.Finally, the optimization design tactics of FOGI have been put forward, and the optimization designs of materials, dimensions and thermal powers have been made. Compared to the initial design of FOGI, the SA of thermal and deformation has been carried out .Then the results show that the design with the material's change is better than the initial one; optimization design with the thermal power's change can meet the need of temperature control in the work process and the cooling-efficiency in the cooling-process;the max deformation of optimization design with the material's change is smaller the initial one in the work process of FOGI.
