The compact ring laser gyro is applied in many fields for its characteristics such as small size, low cost, good reliability, and ruggedness and so on. But, its heavy load and low efficiency cause a rather high voltage of the dither drive system. It is fatal to the PZT with reversed voltage, because the PZT will be depolarized under high voltage for a long time, which causes the dither mechanism to lose its drive function and the RLG unable to work normally. By analyzing the dither mode, this paper puts forward the method of applying impendence matching into eliminating the useless power. With the drive efficiency improved, the drive voltage is decreased consequently. And then experiments are designed to prove the feasibility of this method.At first, by constructing the equivalent circuit model of the dither mechanism, the impendence matching theory is studied, and the characteristics of the series and parallel inductance resonance and their influence on the circuit are analyzed. After that, some designs of modes of quiescent matching are presented, and meanwhile a scheme of the dynamic matching is put forward, which aims to resolve the problem that the quiescent matching can't match the circuit all the time.Next, a solution to properly measure the matching inductance and judge the resonance state in the dynamic matching system is presented. It allows the dynamic matching to work within wide temperature range in real time automatically. And then the characteristics and categories of the variable reactance devices are researched. Based on this, a lot of variable inductances are manufactured with the core material of PC44.Then, tests of the series inductance resonance and the inductance capacitance matching are conducted. And it turns out that the dither voltage and consume is reduced, and the dither efficiency is improved. After that, a test of the series inductance resonance is conducted under the condition of high and low temperature. And the influences of this temperature change on the quiescent capacitance, resonant frequency, dither margin, dither voltage and matching inductance are analyzed. In the mean time, the situation of mismatching is also analyzed.Lastly, a design of the dynamic matching system is presented and the method to achieve the system is introduced as well. According to the result of the experiments, the dynamic matching system can realize the matching in time.The power consumption of the dither mechanism is reduced by 30%, and the dither drive voltage of the RLG is decreased by 50%, the possibility of the PZT be depolarized is lowered, and the dither efficiency is improved too.
