Studies Of Austrian Architect Rolf Geyling In Modern Tianjin

Rolf·Geyling (1884-1952), the famous Austrian architect and engineer of modern Tianjin. He graduated from the prestigious University of Vienna. In Austria ,he completed a large number of architectural works. After World War I,Geyling feld to China from Vladivostok,when he was still a prisoner of war in 1920,then Geyling lived in China above 30 years. In China, he ushered in the peak whole life, he served as Austrian vice-consul in Tianjin, China for the Austrian nationals fighting for the rights. He started his own art and construction firm and in Tianjin and other places he completed a large namber of classic architectural works, many works still being retained to now as proof of local history. He also taught at the Tianjin Institute of Business and cultivate a large number of architects. Geyling also actively participate in a variety of organizations and social activities, he can be said was very well-known figure in Tianjin .This article describes Rolf·Geyling's two major experiences that in Austria and China ,as well as in Tianjin, China, Geyling major architectural design practice, then on this basis, analysis the process of evolution that Geyling's architectural design style and the characteristics, proposed Geyling's historial comment and position in the architectural area, so to cherish the memory of this western architects who has made positive contributions to the Modern architectural enterprise of China .
