Discussion Of The Application Of Natural Light And Shadow In The Design Of Public Park

Natural light as the basic component element of nature giving the world light and heat,meanwhile, it creates the unique artistic charm. In the field of landscape architecture, natural lightis always being used intentionally or unintentionally, and shows the high landscape value.However, because of its vague and phantasmagoric characteristics, the natural light and itsshadow is used lacking extensive concern and system study.This thesis elaborated by the collation of relevant theoretical concepts of the natural lightand its shadow, choosing green space in parks as case which research from function, applicationforms to the use of different instances. It analyzes the feasibility of the use of natural light andshadow in the green space of the parks, making people realize the value of them and attractingmore attention and interest which integrate the concepts of natural light and shadow to themodern landscape design subtly.During the process of discussion part in this thesis, firstly, it introduces the origin of thissubject, research purpose, significance and research methods, concludes the relevant theories ofnatural light and its shadow systematically, and defines concept and the scope of natural light andshadow in this thesis. Secondly, choosing green space in parks as case, it elaborates the functionof natural light and shadow in the parks from the aspects of aesthetic values, human needs,ecological values, cultural conveyance, and reflects its potential values. Then, this thesis proposethe media function for the difficulty of the use of natural light and shadow in the parks, anddiscuss the applicable forms of natural light and shadow through study the different medias ofgreen space in the parks. Lastly, this thesis studied from both aspects of landscape space andmood creation, combining some successful cases, discussing the applicable methods of naturallight and shadow in the public park, then it could reflect the feasibility of natural light andshadow in the modern landscape architecture.
