As the development of modern missile technology and the increasing demand for its control ability, the whole system of cruise missile tends to be more complex which sometimes will bring a threat to system reliability. Furthermore, complex and changing environment during the process of the flight will bring the missile interference. Based on the above considerations, in order to improve the performance of the missile status (including missile attitude angle and flight speed) against the external disturbances, measurement errors and the system structure of uncertainty, and the establishment of robust fault detection system for improving the reliability of the missile is of great significance. In this paper, the main health management system is divided into three levels, namely subsystem level, flight control level and mission control level. The role and working processes are given. Then, the main flight control level for robust control method is studied from aspects of the passive fault tolerant control and active fault tolerant control.First, health management system of the winged missile has been estimated. A type of structure which includes three levels is given. Besides, their tasks also have been presented and the problem related to the design of the control level has been focused on.Then, the mathematical model of winged missile is presented, and the typical failures, especially the actuator failures during flight are presented.Firstly, the problem of optimal state feedback control law, aiming to improve the robustness of the states against interference, is discussed based on mixed index. Also, the problem of the closed-loop system eigenvalues sensitivity with considering parameters disturbance also has been discussed. H2 /H∞Secondly, to solve active fault tolerant problem, we talk about the design of robust observer-based fault detection system, considering the norm-bounded parameter uncertainty expressed in the case of the system under design robust state observer. The aim of the designed observer is to make the residual output optimally track the fault signal. Based on the information of the observer residual, the problem of fault analysis and fault compensation has been discussed.
