Nowadays, in China's armored forces the training to the drivers of armored vehicles mainly adopts real vehicle training. This method needs not only lots of armored vehicles and instructors, but also large places and large amounts of fuel. So noise pollution and air pollution are inevitable. Furthermore, the driver's life may be in danger, if he makes mistake during the real vehicle training. The appearance of driving simulator provides a new solution to those problems.Driving simulator is a sort of simulation equipment using virtual reality technology that can realistically simulate the vehicle driving action and obtain the actual driving experience. Vehicle dynamics model is one of the important modules of the real-time computer simulation subsystem of a driving simulator, and the real-time computer simulation subsystem is the core of a driving simulator, so vehicle dynamics model directly influence the operational effects of the driving simulator.The objective of this paper is to establish a suitable hydrodynamics model for the developing of the amphibious armored vehicle driving simulator, who can achieve a good simulation results. The hydrodynamics of the amphibious vehicle is different from the dynamics of the land vehicle, or from the hydrodynamics of the ship. Until now, the dynamics theory of the land vehicle and the hydrodynamics theory of the ship are already very mature, but few researches on the hydrodynamics of the amphibious vehicle are done. Therefore, the researches done in this paper are full of great significance.This paper analyzed the system components and working principle of the amphibious armored vehicle driving simulator, to confirm the role of the researched hydrodynamics model in the whole simulator system and instruct the subsequent researches.To establish the hydrodynamics model of the amphibious armored vehicle, this paper firstly analyzed the vehicle dynamics driving on land including straight driving on land and steering driving on land. On this basis, taking into account the effect of water on the vehicle, the hydrodynamics model of the amphibious armored vehicle was established, including three typical working conditions those who are driving from land into water, diving from water to land and driving from water to landing ship. Then, the model of power-transmission system was established for simulation. Finally, the simulation models of the amphibious armored vehicle and the power-transmission system are established based on MATLAB/SIMULINK.In addition, two methods are presented in the paper to calculate the value of buoyancy and the position of the center of buoyancy during the vehicle driving into water. The two methods are contrasted with each other, and then it is found that the SOLIDWORKS Three-Dimensional Solid Model Method is more accurate and has good generality.
