With the development of superconducting technology, superconducting materials have been applied in many areas. The mechanical property of HTS tapes is an important feature in specific applications. High-temperature superconducting tapes may be subject to tension, compression, bending and fatigue load effects, which will result in a corresponding strain. If the strain exceeds a certain range, the superconducting materials will crack or even break and the band material critical current decay will be occurred, which affect the application of superconducting tapes. Therefore, the critical current of superconducting material relationship with the strain has important practical significance. The experimental platform for measuring the mechanical propertied of high-temperature superconducting tapes is designed .The method of four-point bending is used to load and the four-lead method is to measure the critical current of superconducting tapes. Meanwhile, the loading precision for the experimental platform and the critical current measurement errors are analyzed, which indicate that the experimental platform can effectively carry out the mechanical properties of superconducting tapes experiment. Compared with the general tensile loading with the two points, the experimental platform is easier to achieve compressive strain and fatigue loading. And compared with other kinds of bending loads experimental platform, our platform has the advantages for operating easily and making the sample suffered strain more uniform. The critical current of the two Bi-2223 tapes are measured using this experimental platform in tension, compression, bending and fatigue loading. On this basis, the effects of the strain on the critical current are analyzed. The results show that: (1) High-temperature Bi Superconducting tapes have a critical strain and the compression performance is better than tensile performance; (2) Fatigue load can make the critical current of Bi HTS tapes further decay; (3) Bi-2223 tapes have minimum bend radius.
