The heat exchange between the closed-loop surface water resource heat pump (SWHP) and the received water was simulated with 3-D computational fluid dynamic(sCFD) method. The simulation results agreed well with the experimental results. The results showed that: in Shanghai when the height of the received water was 4m, the heat exchange capacity of one single coil should be less than 2700w to make sure that the drop the water temperature is less than 2℃in winter condition, meanwhile, the heat exchange capacity of one single coil should be less than 2500w to make sure that the drop the water temperature is less than 1℃in summer condition. To meet the requirements of < Environmental quality standards for surface water > thus avoiding heat pollution of the received water, when the heat exchange capacity was 1600w for one single coil, the height of the coil should be less than 1.8m away from the lakebed in the winter condition and the height of the coil should be less than 1.6m away from the lakebed in summer condition.
