The Interpretation And Analysis Of Waterfront Landscape Under The Background Of Chinese Traditional Culture: Lay Out Of Waterfront Buildings And Its Application

Based on the research on the relationship between waterfront buildings and waterbody, between waterfront buildings and people living there, and study on links amongwaterfront buildings when overall planning and internal cultural insides, this paper isaiming to present how to systematically and rationally position waterfront buildings andhow to achieve the best sight and the nicest view from waterfront buildings design; how toprovide a comprehensive and systematic approach and basis to assist future researcherswith the site positioning and layout planning of waterfront buildings. Based on thefunction and layout of waterfront buildings and a consideration of natural environmentaland geological conditions, this paper attempts to explore and research by specific methodson layout styles which can not only meet landscape's functional requirements and itsaesthetic needs but also match the layout with a background of traditional culture; andeventually to strive to create waterfront buildings and waterfront landscape featuredtraditional cultural characteristics.First of all, this paper elaborates water philosophy in water culture and Fengshuiculture on the background of Chinese traditional culture. Starting with elements and nodesof waterfront buildings, it analyzes and studies functions, styles, and layout of waterfrontbuildings and also sums up the importance and role of waterfront buildings in planningoverall layout which shapes a theoretical foundation for this thesis.Secondly, based on a set of research on waterfront building styles and function andsite positioning of China classic gardens, appropriate conclusions and internal laws havebeen drawn via an exploration on various successful cases. According to the case study onan ancient city Langzhong, this paper presents its own insights and findings by analyzingkiosk, platform, building, cabinet, pavilion. It sums up a specific approach and theoreticbasis and internal laws for positioning waterfront buildings and planning general layout onthe background of Chinese traditional culture.In the end, this paper discusses the application of modern practical case involving theabove internal laws and carried out a further discuss on reasonable layout of waterfrontbuildings. For those with less reasonable layout or to be improved, it summarizes and puts forward practical recommendations and methods and predicts the direction or picture offuture research and development of waterfront buildings.
