Hydraulic excavator as main model of engineering machinery , is widely used as the multi-function building construction machine, hydraulic excavator is mainly made up of the engine, hydraulic system, work device, and rotary device, walk gear and electric control .This paper reviews the hydraulic excavator work device and hydraulic system dynamic development and the present research status at home and abroad, and points out the future development trend of hydraulic excavator.Excavator's main work is the soil of digging, the work device is unit of directly finishing the excavation task , the performance of the work unit is the important symbol of the levels of design. Paper analyses typical working conditions of hydraulic excavator and the work device mining resistance and mining force, and summarizes performance requirements and design principles of the excavator working device.The core technology of excavator product is hydraulic system design, which is also the most complex in hydraulic system of engineering machinery . Based on the main work characteristics of hydraulic excavator, the paper systematically summarizes basic design requirement of excavator hydraulic system, and introduces the typical hydraulic excavator basic action, finally it specifically analyses hydraulic excavator's two oil: opening center through six valve system and closing center, load sense that pressure compensate system.This paper introduces the principle and characteristic that pressure compensate system because of sensitive load, detailed analysis of the specific content of the hydraulic system design and design process.through analyzes "ideal" characteristics of the hydraulic excavator's hydraulic system, it puts forward the excavator hydraulic system have six control function requirement, describes design principle and method of all kinds of control function. Through the test of the hydraulic system's related parameters , it got the data of different kinds of actual working condition, simulation analysis has also been made. It discusses the possible causes of data changes, which offers guidelines for the analysis and design, and provides reference for the design and analysis. It has vital significance for the development and innovation of the excavator hydraulic system.
