The Study On Renewing The Lisu Vernacular House In Laojun Mountain Lijiang And Its Ecological Architecture Pattern Language

The essence of vernacular house is to satisfy people's resident needs. There are various beautiful vernacular houses in China, most of which were still used nowadays, especially in the undeveloped west regions. The traditional vernacular houses can't adapt the needs of nowadays as our era getting progress and society getting advance. Vernacular houses need to be renewed, otherwise they would decline or vanished. The traditional vernacular houses'develop process is built on the building system of using pattern language. Houses would be vital and region-adapted. But the conditions of today don't adapt this process anymore. The development of vernacular houses stands still. If architects are involved in this process, they can take advantage of their green building knowledge and design ability to renew the vernacular houses'pattern language. And make it be used by inhabitants and local builders, to build the new ecological vernacular houses.This paper take the renewing of Lisu nationality's vernacular building in Laojun Mountain Lijiang as example, to practice the theory of renewing vernacular house by architectural pattern language. There is beautiful nature in Laojun Mountain, which includes unique Danxia landform and other various landscapes. Lisu people have built beautiful and natural vernacular houses there. As the set of Laojun Mountain national geological park, the strategy of balancing developing and protecting will be taken. That requires buildings can meet the need of both ecology and economy. This paper creates the ecological architecture pattern language of Laojun Mountain by analyzing the physical environment and architectural space of local vernacular houses. Then 4 families'houses are chosen as examples to practice the new ecological pattern language, so as to build the new ecological vernacular houses which meet their own needs when march forward the modern times.
