The Spontaneous Continuation Mechanism Of The Traditional House Form In The Southwest Of Modern Shanxi Province

Based on a lot of Field investigation,this paper combs and studies the existing traditional residential buildings and contemporary self built residential buildings in the southwest of Shanxi Province,to analyze the dominant and recessive inheritance relationship which can be observed in the house form of both.This paper does not intend to make a comprehensive study of the structure and decoration details of the traditional residential buildings in the southwest of Shanxi Province,nor to continue to explain the ideological trend of regionalism,critical regionalism or the other thoughts which has already been well known inside the architecture academic circle,But to explore under the circumstances where no professional architects involved,in which aspects does the house form of traditional residential buildings obtain the power of over-time lasting that we can still easily find it in the contemporary self built residential buildings,and how does this continuity happen.There are six chapters in this paper.The first chapter summarizes the research results related to this study at home and abroad,and introduces the focus of this study and the actual operation process and operation methods.The second chapter briefly introduces the natural geographical environment and historical geographical location of Southwest Shanxi,and summarizes the development history of the administrative system in southwest Shanxi.The third and fourth chapters respectively narrate the types and characteristics of traditional residential buildings and contemporary self built residential buildings in southwest Shanxi,The fifth chapter compares the continuity phenomenon on the characteristics of different types of traditional houses and contemporary houses.The sixth chapter analyzes the external and internal factors that affect the inheritance mechanism of the traditional houses,and explores the mechanism which promotes the spontaneous continuation of the traditional house form and draws the final conclusion.The research of this paper reveals the phenomenon and mechanism about the process that the house form of the traditional residential architecture being spontaneous translated in modern regional self built residence which can also be viewed as new vernacular architecture in the industrial era.it may have some enlightening significance in exploring the reconstruction of Chinese traditional architecture system today,and provide another new way of thinking for building excellent regional architectures which truly conforms to the spirit of regional culture in the new era.
