Wind power has some unique advantages, such as clean, green, and renewable. In recent years, with the rapid development of wind turbine manufacturing, the technologies of wind farm connect to grid are gradually mature, and wind power costs are declining. So wind power has been developed and used widely by many countries. In addition, wind power can relieve of energy shortages, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve environmental quality, has brought significant economic and environmental benefits.Now, due to there are more and more large-scale wind farms, they connect to the power system will bring a lot of influence, and therefore study the related problems of wind farm connect to grid is very necessary. Wind farm penetration power limit is one among the problems, in the planning stages of wind farm, planning and design personnel must consider it seriously.Robust optimization is a branch in the field of uncertain optimization,which is a modeling method with uncertain input. The main feature is needn't assume random parameter distribution to uncertain parameters in the model. The disturbances have little influence on optimization results. This method applies to some problems which contain randomness parameters and demanding stability.In the paper, through the penetration power limit of wind farm of calculation methods are analyzed and compared, considering the randomness of wind speed and wind turbine generators uncertainty. To calculate the penetration of wind power, a new robust optimization model are proposed, which take into account the randomness of wind turbine output. The uncertainty of wind speed is expressed by cassette set in which the wind speed as uncertain parameters must not be known the probability distribution functions. The optimizing duality theory is used to simplify the model and the uncertainty quantity in the constraints is converted into the form of certainty quantity, ultimately, the model is converted into linear programming one.Adopted three different schemes is calculated and analyzed on the IEEE30 system, the results show that the penetration power limit of wind farm are effected significantly by different nodes connected to grid, different wind speed fluctuation and different wind turbine parameters. The robust optimization model and its solve method are feasible, effective and efficient. There have important reference meanings for wind farm site selection and grid planning and access power system design.
