Development of the low-carbon economy with low energy consumption and carbon emission has become the consensus of the world. Building energy-saving and environment-friendly green power grid is the demand of the resource-saving and environment-friendly society and modern power grid. With the continuous development of the urban power grid, the green environment-friendly power substation will play an important role in modern power grid. Qiaodong 110kV substation was chosen green power pilot substation of Zhaoqing power grid in 2010. The construction of the substation can research and explorate the building of green substations. The study on effectiveness of this substation will accumulate the experience for further research and promotion on the green substation.In this thesis, energy saving, water saving and environmental protection related with new technology, new equipment, materials and technologies were applied to the construction of 110kV Qiaodong substation. The application of environmentally friendly construction materials, energy saving windows and doors, air conditioning, energy saving, solar energy, ventilation, noise control, landscaping and architectural design, electrical equipment selection, energy efficient lighting, measures to net reduction in resistance , electrical noise control was studied and analyzed in during the construction of the substation. With the comparison of the conventional substation both on the technical and economical facets, the environmental testing data verify the effectiveness of energy saving and investment in green substation. By the questionnaires form, the green substation satisfied the requirement of the public and environment.Finally, the thesis summarize the construction experience of the Qiaodong 110kV substation project as the first green substation in Zhaoqing power grid and show the advantages and disadvantages of the relevant water, energy, environmental protection technologies measures during the implementation process. Some new ideas and recommendations are put forward in the conclusion.
