With the development of the worldwide strategy of smart grid, a smart grid willbecome the new direction of the development of the power grid in our country.Intelligent substation is an important part of smart grid. IEC61850standard paved theway for the implementation of the smart substation,and the intelligent substation hasbecome a hot as an important physical nodes in smart grid. According to the2020plan, the smart grid has entered the overall construction stage. The fully digitalprotection for intelligent substation largely follows the traditional relay protectionprinciple and microcomputer relay protection, but due to the introduction of themerging unit, intelligent terminal, and the process layer network link, new technicalproblems need to be solved. At the same time under the condition of intelligentsubstation, using new technology to improve and innovate the traditional protectionalgorithm and criterion and the traditional protection scheme, we’ll maximize theexcavation potential in order to improve the protection performance, to ensure the safeand stable operation of power grid. Taking QiQihaer city110kV in the research ofintelligent substation construction project as the background, considering the problemof intelligent substation intelligent protection and the traditional relay protection logicand criterion research as the main line, the paper focuses on the the main transformerprotection configuration in110kV,intelligent substation, the improvement of maintransformer high back-up compound voltage lockout overcurrent protection criterionand validation by simulation. With the deepening of the smart grid, smart substationconstruction, the research content of this article can be widely applied in110kv fullydigital protection device of the smart substation, especially for those new substationsadopting the same protection principle and implementation technology of protectiondevice, which will effectively improve the performance of the main transformerprotection, good for the development of intelligent substation. It plays a positiverole in promoting the smart grid construction and provides a new developmentdirection in the research of relay protection principle.
