The 9FA type of gas turbines which represent the most advanced technology owned by American General Electric Company have been manufactured in China since 2003. The research was carried out focusing on the analysis of hardware and software which make up of the novel control system applied to the heavy gas turbine of 9FA. In the meanwhile,the attempt was made in the research to build a gas turbine math model and search a more efficient control strategy to improve on the gas turbine operation performance desired purpose.Firstly,the paper described keynote of the research is the analysis of hardware in the Mark VI control system. the prospect of the applications and structure features of the gas turbines. On the basis of the analysis mentioned before,the report also gave analysis of the reliability and robustness because they are essential for MARK VI dealing with multi-input and multi-out object to realizing multi-objective.Further ,the paper detailed study of the Control System Toolbox (general purpose package),which is used when MARK VI program and code developed,including system parameters,hardware module libraries,hardware and I/O definitions and function module libraries. Especially,the analysis of the function module in MARK VI control program was paid more attention. Then,the key technologies applied to the MARK VI control system and control code was somewhat gotten,which is may taken as the foundation of practical application,commissioning and secondly development to the Mark VI control system.Based on the analysis of hardware and the research of software, The math model was built according to the working principle of the gas turbine generator system under the connected/disconnected grid condition. On the basis of the erected math models,the gas turbine control system simulation platform was built with the popular MATLAB language. Then,the attempt at some novel control strategies was made to solve the problems which are the conventional control strategies can not meet the requirements of the control performance index. The founded fuzzy controller,one of the novels,was simulated at the MATLAB platform comparing to the conventional PID controller. The simulation indicates that the fuzzy controller hardly depends on the accurate math model of the controlled plant; it also shows more robustness than the PID. The fuzzy controller could improve the gas turbine speed control performance,if it were applied to the Mark VI.
