Study On The History Of Planting Design Of The Westlake In Hangzhou

The West Lake planting design which condensed historical culture of Hangzhou is therepresentative of Hangzhou planting design. It also has a close relationship with the historicalcultural development of Hangzhou.Systematic studies on the developing history of planting design and plant species, therelationship between planting design and human landscape, characteristics of the West Lakeplanting design have been studied, which were based on a study of historical documents and afield investment of the West Lake spot.Furthermore, this paper provides reference to the construction of the West Lake plantingdesign and the inheritance of historical context, and has some reference values to the West Lake'sapplication for'World Cultural Heritage'. The results have been summarized as follows:(1) Based on documents and examples, the basic situation and main characters of manygenerations of planting design have been described briefly, forming process,distribution and plantspecies in history of the West Lake have been analyzed preliminarily.Forest plant landscape hasbeen the largest proportion before the tang dynasty, and temple plant landscape has been the keystyle in tang dynasty, but during the song dynasty ,imperial garden plant landscape has been themain part.In the Ming and qing dynasties, the staple one have been private garden plant landscape ,to the modem public gardens and greenbelts have been the first one.(2) Based on documents and amusing anecdotes about celebrities, the traditional culturalmaterials about traditional living style,religion,literature and painting have been researched . TheWest Lake planting design's relationships with the celebrities in history such as Baijuyi andcustoms,Buddhism,painting,poetry have been discussed in this paper.(3) According to the developing history of planting design,the relationship between humanlandscape and planting design,investigated result of plant species in history,three majorcharacteristics of the West Lake planting design have been summarized in this paper.
