The electric locomotive gain the power from the sliding contact between the pantograph slide and the contact wire in electrified Railway. With the process of high speed railway, the sliding electrical contact problems between the pantograph slide and catenary wire the must be studied and solved.With the research background of electric railway in this paper, the wear mechanism of sliding electrical contact is deeply studied by considerring the pantograph slide as the main object of study. The wear characteristics and current-carrying characteristics between immersed copper carbon pantograph slide and copper-tin alloy wire are studied, and the mechanism is analyzed by using the sliding electrical contact wear test machine self developed. The following obtained conclusions: The wear rate showed a U-shaped trend that decrease firstly and then increase with the increaseing contact pressure, the optimal contact pressure that makes the wear rate minimum is found. The average coefficient of friction increases showed a tendency to increase with the increasing contact pressure. With increasing contact pressure, stability of friction increases and stability of current collection increases continuously. Wear rate showing an increasing trend with increasing sliding speed and contact current. With the increase of sliding speed, stability of friction decreased and stability of current collection became worse. With the touch current increases, the friction coefficient, wear rate and contact temperature showed a tendency to increase.The performance of the testing machine of the sliding electrical contact is improved. The testing machine improved improves the dynamic balancing performance of the rotating disk and the following performance of the horizontal platform, and adds temperature detection part of the contact point between slide contact and the catenary wire. The host computer interface and data processing systems is also designed based on LabVIEW.
