Because of the increase of high-capacity unbalanced loads in modern electrical power systems, the unbalance of three-phase power and three-phase current is growing. This phenomenon makes more transmission losses, reduces power quality, and threatens the electrical power system's security and economic operation.The three-phase unbalance phenomenon makes the power quality issue more complex. And it is need to be solved by comprehensive compensation technology. The article introduces the research background and the subject significance of the three-phase unbalanced reactive power compensation technology, and talk about the current developments of the research and the trends of the development of this technology. One method that can balance the three-phase line current will be mentioned in this article.One new application of the unbalanced compensation theory is mentioned. And based on it, compensation tactics and the compensation system are designed. The compensation system contains the compensation main circuit and the compensation controller. And it is decided by compensation tactics.In the article, the design of the compensation system's hardware and software is completed. The simulink model of the three-phase unbalanced compensation system is established. And the simulink model has proved the design is right.
