Photovoltaic is the main way to use solar energy, it has advantage of clean, durable and adaptable. However, the output characteristics of photovoltaic array not only has the nonlinear characteristics but also effected by light intensity, temperature and load. When the external environment was change, the voltage and output power will change, therefore it is necessary to use the Maximum Power Point Tracking in the photovoltaic system, to change the operating voltage of the photovoltaic array and increase the efficiency of photovoltaic system.The paper focuses on the stand-alone photovoltaic system and analyzes it with theory, emphases on the output characteristics, design of the main circuit, control strategy of the Maximum Power Point Tracking, and so on. The main contents are listed as follows:Fist, this article introduces the research background, significance of the topic, photovoltaic technology and maximum power point tracking technology at home and abroad.Secondly, introduces the classification of photovoltaic system, analyzes the principles and output characteristics of photovoltaic cells, and builds a general simulation model.Thirdly, describes the composition of maximum power tracking system, analyzes the principle and role of the boost circuit in the photovoltaic system, then the boost transformer simulation model is built.Finally, Analyzes the principle of the maximum power point tracking, builds the system simulation model, presents the simulation of maximum power point tracking for PV array with the perturbation and observation method based on fuzzy control, and achieved good results.
