The Research On The Application Of Virtual Reality In Substation Design

Although Traditional power design meets the construction requirements, the engineering data has not been established database support and data correlation is poor. Insufficient coordination between various professional design departments easily led to design errors and field problems. Furthermore, engineering design achievements can not be fully utilized in various links of the project.This paper briefly introduced the virtual reality technology and its application in the design of power substation. In the past, the difficulty of substation equipment model library construction and the lack of software support are the main reasons for the virtual reality technology not being able to promotion its application in substation design. In recent years, with virtual reality technology's penetration in all walks of life, the equipment manufacturers'use of virtual reality technology, substation design solutions presented by large software vendors as well as the application of general-purpose devices launched in State Grid Corporation, provide technical conditions for virtual reality technology in substation design. With the power system reform, the Institutes are seeking the effective means to enhance their core competitiveness. Virtual reality technology, because of its many advantages, will become the institute's choice. With reference virtual reality technology in thermal power plants Design and according to the construction of substation's own characteristics, vision for the application of virtual reality technology in substation design is made.In this paper, to a typical 500kV substation project, for example, the author made the project planning and used Bentley Substation Solution virtual modeling to complete the station layout,collision check,security distance check,three-dimensional drawing and preparation for digital transfer, which introduced the application of virtual reality technology in substation design.
