With the increase of system capacity, and the policy on "the split on electricity power industry and quotation", higher request is put forward on the economic operation and reliable operation of power plants. Important auxiliary engines are generally of large energy consumption, which has huge potential space for energy saving and also is an effective way to realize the economic benefits. The power consumption of the motors such as large capacity fans and auxiliary like high pressure pumps accounts for about 80% of the APE. As domestic boiler fans and turbine water pumps are used mostly by motors and 95% for AC motors are directly drived, the performance of speed adjustment has a direct decisive influence on improving product quality, labor productivity and saving electric energy, so choosing a high speed control technology is benefit for reducing the power generation enterprise operating costs. Meanwhile, energy saving has become the social problems needed to resolve at the present high energy price time, as well as an important problem needed to be considered by the generation company. So which speed adjustment can maximize energy consumption saving become a problem needed to solve.In this paper, we first introduce the basic principles of high voltage motor speed adjustment technologies, and focus on analyzing four speed control technologies, namely the frequency converter, permanent magnet, water resistance and internal feedback; and expound the research background, development situation at present and the future development direction of the four kinds of speed control technologies mentioned above, and study their development and limit factors. On this basis, taking the high voltage power motor speed technology use of Zhejiang Beilun Plant and Jiaxing Plant as examples, we analyze the related data of the four kinds of speed adjustment ways, compare the situation before and after use of speed control technology, and give detailed summary from the technical performance and economic performance aspects of the four speed regulation technologies. In addition, we also consider the fault, the causes and the solving method of the above four speed control technologies. Finally, we discuss in what condition and to choose which speed regulation technology can make the power operation cost saving maximum, and put forward corresponding solutions and suggestions.
