High Voltage Switchgear, which play an important role in the power system and switching power lines and obtain an increasingly wide range of applications, is important in the transmission and distribution system equipment,. High Voltage Switchgear is the equipment that include the high-voltage switchgear and control, measurement, regulation, protection devices, and housing, accessories and parts and other components to support transmission and distribution functions required in accordance assembled, in addition to inlet and outlet, the remaining parts are completely enclosed switchgear metal. It bears breaking and closing power lines, line fault protection, monitoring data and other important role in running the power. In the "Long-term Science and Technology Development Plan", released by State Department, the ultra-large-scale power transmission and distribution and energy security are listed as the priority focus areas in the object.It is an important in power equipment safety and reliability of the ultra-large-scale power transmission and distribution. According to incomplete statistics, many domestic power generation companies, power companies had experienced switchboard failure in different degrees, and cause amount of economic losses. Partly,these faults are resulted from the switchgear quality, more important, the switch cabinet is lack of effective monitoring tools currently.Most high-voltage switch equipment with closed structure, poor heat dissipation in the device's long-running process, the switch cabinet contacts, connectors and bus bar connections and other parts due to aging, the contact resistance is too large or workers with poor fever, and a long period of high voltage, high current, and run under full load conditions, which resulted in increased heat build-up, if we do not adopt effective monitoring measures the temperature rise will endanger the safe operation of electrical equipment. Especially when the power system short circuit fault occurs, a strong current so that the internal temperature increased electrical equipment, electrical insulation was severely damaged, and to shorten the life span of electrical equipment, electrical equipment were destroyed and even cause serious accidents.In power industry equipment, fire is caused by overheating of power cables frequently, resulting in a large area of cable and equipment damage and burning forced to shut down, unable to resume production within a short time, resulting in amount of economic losses. Electrical equipment, causing overheating and a fire occurred in the middle of the cable connector is the direct cause poor production quality, pressure tight joints are not, contact resistance, long-running cable head caused by overheating, burn insulation.For a long time, the problem of contact temperature monitoring are exist in electric power system detection. Against to the current limitations of monitoring methods, the paper proposes a technique based on the ZigBee wireless sensor network switch cabinet temperature on-line detection system, to achieve a temperature of the switchgear line detection, effective to prevent the overheating fault.Firstly,the article briefly describes the technology used in short-range communication commonly, Bluetooth technology, ZigBee technology and Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) technology for the analysis and comparison show that the sensor network based on ZigBee technology is ideal for one of the options. This paper describes the design both hardware and software process of the monitoring system, details of low-power ZigBee-based network node hardware design, we use intelligent temperature sensor DS18B20 and TI (Texas Instruments Incorporated) company's latest production of the ZigBee CC2430 radio chip SOC solutions as the core node device hardware, final data to the host PC; monitoring system software to achieve real-time display measuring point temperature, and temperature data to analyze, alarm, storage, and a timely reminder of the staff make a deal with the situation of alarm, to avoid accidents. This design uses a wireless data transmission, set precise temperature measurement, RS-232 bus, temperature limit alarm into one, accurate, and timely on-line monitoring the temperature of High Voltage Switchgear connectors to ensure the safe of power systems operation.
