Vehicle-pedestrian collision is a major type traffic accident in China, which has been attracted close attention by people because of its high fatality rate. However, it is difficult for traffic management department to reconstruct such kind of accident. As a critical process in traffic accident identification, accident reconstruction has become the focus of traffic safety research field. For the purpose of vehicle velocity estimating in the vehicle-pedestrian accident reconstruction, in this paper, a simulation study of vehicle-pedestrian collision based on PC-CRASH programs has been taken. The main research contents and achievements are as follows:1. The numerical dummy fits for Chinese bodily form feature based on multi-body dynamics is established. A typical vehicle is introduced to the simulation model. Through the orthogonal simulation experiments, the key parameters sensitivity is analysed. It ensure the effective control of model error, and also provide reference to the accident data collection.2. For the automotives which equipped with ABS, evaluate the vehicle impact velocity based on brake marks is imprecise. In this situation, the pedestrian throwing distance become the most important information in the estimation of vehicle velocity. By controlling the parameters that input to the simulation experiment, the relation between the pedestrian throwing distance and the factors such as collision type, body feature and vehicle shape are analysed. The simulation data and analysis results have general significance.3. The front height of the vehicle has an obvious effect to the pedestrian throwing distance. Through the multiple nonlinear regression analysis of the simulation results, the comprehensive throwing model, first fall site throwing model, final throwing distance model that based on vehicle front height are presented at the first time.4. Finally, the simulation method is applied to reconstruct a real and typical case of vehicle-pedestrian accident, also the availability of three throwing models are validated. It provide a scientific method for the accident reconstruction.
