Nowadays, more and more highways are conducted, but the Highway Reconstruction And Extension does not mean new roads'building, for the theory and practice of the Loess Area is still lacking, therefore the research which is regard to the expansion of highways in Loess Area is seemed imperative, the study in this thesis is based on the rebuilding of West Tong highway, through engineering investigations, the stability,renovation and utilization of old pavements will be analyzed before stitching, and also the stitching technique of the new and old roadbed is researched, the main works of this paper are as follows:Firstly, According to the investigation of disease of the old roadbed, for the correct judgments of damaged condition with structure layer of the original pavement, on the basis of the result in core-drilling, if consolidation of each structure layer is well, it will be reserved after the strengthen of original pavement; if the structure layer of the original pavement appear loose, the original pavement should be milling planning, and then the new pavement should be paving renewably, in addition to this, construction elevation of pavement will adjusted.Secondly, when rectification action appears in the old roadbed, owning to the stability analysis of the original pavement, the disease of the old pavement will be treated, if the pave mill materials of old pavement by Plant-Mix Cold Recycling Technology, it should be regeneration utilized on the sub base and hard shoulder of the new pavement, the milling-planing of old pavement should be stratified and the pave mill materials should be classified and piled up. Thirdly, by using the ANSYS software modeling, different Connection Manners of the new and old roadbed will be analyzed. At the time, with a certain splicing of gradient slope way for analysis the new and old road will be joined together by the way of the steps of alternate stitching. According to the analysis result, it is not difficult to determine that the step break joint of the new and old road is better than the other break joint. When the steps is excavating, it should take the steps for 30cm wide according to actual engineering situation.Fourthly, Based on the widening the Splicing Method of West Tong highway, it is easy to get the detail information of split joint of the new and old road. The new and old road will be joined together by the way of the steps of alternate stitching, which is actually decided by the different milling planer of the engineering scheme. In order to make the new and old pavement that can form into a strength structure to meet the overall requirements, it should make the paved with fiber grating on the top of primary level to meet the strong structural layer between the new and the old road.
