In this paper, a virtual durability test method which combines test method and computer aided engineering for a heavy truck was established. First, a road test method for the heavy truck was developed to obtain the acceleration response of axles, and a rigid-flexible coupling multi-body dynamic model of the heavy truck based on the axle acceleration response was established. Then, based on the road test method and the multi-body dynamic model, the actual load history of the heavy truck was reproduced to predict the fatigue life of the heavy truck and its key components.Firstly, the road excitation's transformance path was analyzed. Then, based on the reaserch of the road excitation, the axle displacement response of axles was taken as the target data in the road test. The real vehicle test was conducted to get the srain and acceleration response. Then, the road test data was employed to evaluate the reliability of the road test method.Then, the rigid-flexible coupling muti-body dynamic model of the heavy truck based on the real vehicle test collected axle displacement response was constructed. The test data of the leafspring, airspring, damper and bushing was used to construct the model.The frame and damper trestle in the model was transfered into flexible parts. By doing this to make sure that the multi-body model could reproduce the real heavy truck's performance. Then, the road test data was used to evaluate the validation of the rigid-flexible coupling multi-body model of the heavy truck.Finally, the axle displacement response curve of the road test was constructed. The curve was employed as the actuation of the rigid-flexible coupling multi-body dynamic model to get dynamic simulation .Then, based on the load history produced in the simulation and the fatigue properties of the material, the key part's fatigue life of the heavy truck was estimated.The virtual durability test method was employed to get the fatigue life of the damper trestle which belongs to the front suspension of the heavy truck. The result turns out to meet the statistic which was given by the company well.
