Screw compressors are widely used in mines, chemical, power, metallurgy, construction, machinery, refrigeration and other industrial departments. Because of its capacity and a wide range of operating conditions, screw compressor is gradually replaced with other types of compressors. Now the displacement compressors used are mostly the screw compressor. And the application of the screw compressor is still gradually expanded. The situation of study is not satisfactory, which is relative to the application of screw compressor in China. Twin-screw compressor is invented in abroad. Foreign scholars have done a lot of research on the compressor rotor, and have formed a relatively complete theoretical system. A variety of rotor profile has formed a standardization of products. The beginning of the study of screw compressor rotor in inland is late than foreign countries. And some aspects of the study also lag behind foreign countries.The paper puts forward two thinking to design rotor profile and gets the profile data based on parametric design, the rotor curves, surfaces design and other aspects. And the physical properties of rotor profile are acquired by finite-element analysis. Usually the compressor rotor profile design process is a complex and long term process. The beginning of the process is design theory, and then is the physical design; the final step is experimental verification. However, no one product development process can be done in one time. The rotor design process needs to go through constant changes, demonstration and validation in order to finalize the actual design. The parametric design is the best way to solve these problems. Parametric design can be used to design a better profile and get its profile data efficient. In this paper, a positive thinking is putted forward to get the male rotor profile and meshing line through designing the female rotor profile; and another reverse thinking is putted forward to get the female and male rotor profile through designing the meshing line.The screw rotor is the core component of the screw compressor and the rotor profile projection formed in the rotor is one of the important studies. The profile has designed directly affects compressor efficiency, accuracy and longevity. This paper will study the design principle of rotor profile and the factor affecting properties of rotors. Then a better performance of the rotor profile is designed through these studies. A better performance of the rotor profile can also designed through studying the requirements of meshing line and designing a meshing line meeting the requirements. In the positive design, a new profile is designed by curve theory and engagement theory and the female rotor profile. And the composition curve of the profile is easy to modify. In the reverse design, a new profile is designed by reverse algorithm and the meshing line. These methods will greatly speed up the design process and avoid the uncertainty of the traditional design process.Based on this positive and reverse rotor profile design approach, a software system of designing rotor profile is compiled through VC++6.0. After the rotor profile has been gotten by the software, the physical characteristics of the profile will be acquired through algorithm analysis and finite element analysis to guarantee the feasible and reasonable of the profile.
