Living on the top of a building in an old district of Canton city, the author looks down at the window, different reinforced concrete roofs and attached facility like self-built canopy frame, pipes and water tank are all in a mess, which affect the integral image of the Garden City-Canton. The author deals with the roof greening programme of Dongwang Wholesale Market while working and have an idea to write this thesis on a theme of roof greening in Canton city.Under the big environment of creating low-carbon greening and ecology healthy life, roof garden and its intension have been taken seriously and developed quickly by making use of city space, increasing city greening area, improving energy conservation and changing city ecology environment. Roof greening has got outstanding effects in changing city ecology environment, mainly are keeping carbon oxygen balanced, decreasing air pollution, improving air clarity, cooling down the temperatures and humidifying.Recently, with the development of roof garden, many experts and scholars make a lot of researches on heat insolation, technology standards, waterproofing, plants'selection and planting base-material. Meanwhile, they have got certain success on these aspects. Whereas, they make few researches on roof greening's ecology ration, so they can't better understand the roof greening's effects of ecology environment improvement., Now the researches mainly adopt 3-5cm earth up orpin planting mode especially for the old buildings in old districts . Disadvantages exist in this mode for environment improvement.Therefore, regarding the roof garden's greening policy advocated by the Canton government, this thesis adopts inductive documents, analyzed theories, deduction and analogy to research light-loading roof greening in keeping carbon and oxygen balanced, reducing pollution, improving air clarity and summer conservation and test their ecology indicators, then select the plant species which fit for light-loading building roof greening in Canton and integrate a set of reasonable roof ecology greening mode which will resolve the aggravation problem of city ecology environment.
