Under floor personalized ventilation can be used to reduce the energy consumption and to improve indoor air quality and thermal comfort. In order to obtain the energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation in China, the energy consumption of personalized under floor ventilation in different climates in China is studied and analyzed.The energy consumption of a single-floor workshop with under floor personalized ventilation and mixing ventilation is estimated and discussed by the software Energyplus in the same climate as well as different climates, respectively. Meanwhile, the energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation with refrigeration dehumidification and rotary-wheel dehumidification is compared. In addition, the influence of direct evaporative cooling, free cooling and night cooling on the energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation has also been investigated.The results indicate that the energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation with refrigeration dehumidification is higher than the cases of another two systems due to the reheating of the supply air. Although the energy consumption of the chiller in the system of under floor personalized ventilation with rotary-wheel dehumidification is largely lower than that of the other two systems, the total energy consumption may be higher than in mixing ventilation systems due to the heat needed by the regenerator. It is found that the total energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation with rotary-wheel dehumidification is lower than that in mixing ventilation rooms only in Guangzhou and Shanghai, revealing that the system is more suitable to be used in these climate regions. Besides, direct evaporative cooling, free cooling and night cooling can save energy to some extent, of which direct evaporative cooling saves 68% of total energy consumption of under floor personalized ventilation with refrigeration dehumidification in Urumqi and similar regions with dry outdoor air. And it is the one with the largest energy-saving potential in the above energy conservation strategies.
