Energy efficient design and indoor air quality (IAQ) are the two challenges facing mechanical engineers today in the field of Heating, Ventilating and Air-conditioning (HVAC), but now, with the emergence of the rotary wheel dehumidification system, it will be changed. First of all, the wheel of the system for heat and mass transfer can reduce the refrigerating capacity and then reheat capacity of the system, and even can achieve the effect of free reheat, so it can reduce the energy consumption; Secondly, the system through the desiccant wheel adsorption dehumidification, to treat moisture load of the system independently, not only can keep sending out low temperature and low dew point air continuously, but also can ensure the constant of indoor air humidity.This paper mainly uses a method which combined mathematical modeling with energy simulation to analysis a rotary wheel dehumidification air conditioning system which has been applied in a project of Changsha. The essay firstly introduces the rotary wheel dehumidification system, through comparing the advantages and disadvantages of all kinds of dehumidification system, to introduce a new type of the wheel dehumidification system:Pinnacle wheel dehumidification system. And then, the essay conducts mathematical modeling with this wheel system based on the mass conservation and energy conservation, and then to solve the model by using EES (Engineering Equation Solver) software, and to analyze the effect of this system in running. The results suggest the system’s operation is relatively stable and the efficacy is very high in the Changsha area. We can see the basis of energy consumption on average abut2.4. Finally, this paper designs the new wheel dehumidification system for a project of Changsha:Firstly, using the EnergyPlus software to simulate the building energy consumption, to analysis the building sensible heat load and latent heat load. And then, to design the new wheel dehumidification system and a traditional cooling dehumidification system for the project. And finally compares with the economic nature of these two systems.The results showed that the new wheel dehumidification air-conditonling system is very energy-saving.The results of this paper show that:the dehumidification system is very efficient in Changsha.And the new wheel desiccant air conditioning system has better energy saving potential.It is more suitable for high humidity applications.
