Research On The Afforestation In The New Urban District Of Northwestern Hangzhou

Urban afforestation is always based on the cities and it can never be independent of a city. Whilst, as a part of urbanization, the urban afforestation also plays a critical role in establishing and improving city ecological environment. As the name implies, urban afforestation is to create a physical landscape, a stable mode of spatial composition, and an artificial created or participated city formation. Urban landscape serves urban residents and tourists, to provide a better living environment, a easier tour and an organized public transportation system.Urbanization has reached a new peak in the beginning of 21s century, which has brought a huge wave of population growth and house price growth. Meanwhile, city traffic congestion and environmental degradation became more and more intolerable, which are considered as the signs of social contradiction.Referring to the successful cases in several Western countries, to resolve forementioned issues, new urban areas and satellite cities can be the only way out. As a new residential region, a new urban city can greatly reduce the housing problems of the cities. It also provides a better economic development space to ease the growing tension of the existing urban environmental conflicts, and effectively promotes the development of the surrounding areas, finally, to form an organized economic community.Urban afforestation is pivotal in the new urban areas, to minimize the environment issues and to create a better living situation. As lacking of a natural ecosystems and a good internal recycling system, urban green landscape become more important for the new urban areas. It provides a solution of recycling waste and improving the living environment, plays as an integral part of the sustainable development process.Taking Hangzhou Bay new urban area as an example, this report has below conclusions:1. Based on the analysis of the new urban green landscape and its afforestation history, combined the traditional and modern city planning and construction theories, this paper has confirmed the value of urban afforestation in the new areas. This paper also systematically analyzed its ecological, economic and social benefits.2. Take the new area in the northwestern shore of Hangzhou Bay as an example, we compared it with the situations in Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Haining Agricultural Comprehensive Development Zone, which found in a field investigation. Case study has been used as the main method in this report. There is also a summary of the current situation and future vision of the new area in northwestern shore of Hangzhou Bay.3. Besides, this report also tried to look for some valid methods to solve the issues emerged in the urbanization process, and summarize the practical experiences and routines in our implementation, to provide some references for the new urban area and green landscape research or practice in other cities.
