Magneto-Rheological fluid (MRF) is a new kind of smart material, which can be transformed controllable, reversible and instantaneously under the high magnetic field. MRF safety and arming device is a new kind of delay arming mechanism which can realize its time delaying and ensure the safety and reliability of the fuze by taking the advantage of MRF.A lot of theoretical research about MRF safety and arming device was done basing on the available information. And at the same time, a new kind of fuze delay arming device was designed consulting the fuze manual. Additionally, Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were used to investigate the followings:1. According to fluid dynamics theory, the delay arming time model of the MRF fuze was set up based on the theory of small orifice discharge. ANSYS software was also used to prove the correctness of the model, and at the same time, relation curves between the delay arming time and some factors were derived.2. Factors inflecting the delay arming time and their solutions were got according to analyze the time model and the actual condition. And based on error transfer theory, dispersion model of the delay arming time was also obtained.3. By using leakage coefficient method, sizes of the magnet were obtained based on electromagnetic field theory. And it was proved to be correct and reasonable according to ANSYS simulation. Additionally, influence of the external magnetic field on fuze performance was derived according to the assumption.4. Based on the theory of magnetic field and flow field, a new kind of safety and arming device was designed, and it was proved to be reasonable and reliable according to numerical simulation. Furthermore, some checks and optimizations on main parts were done. And at last, the security of the MR fuze were analysed.Finally, the work of this dissertation was concluded. The innovations and contributions of this work were introduced. And also, the potential issues of this research were pointed out. All of those have reference value for the research of magneto-rheological fluid safe and arming device.
