Building energy saving design is the key to the whole building design joint. It's the important measure contradiction to solve our economic and social development and energy supply shortage. The purpose of architecture is the creation of space. Building space saving design is a very important part of the building energy saving design. It has a important significant in promotion of energy conservation overall. It has a significant meaning to treat energy efficiency as a design element and combine the space which was a tradition design elements to consider a comprehensive energy strategy in architecture in the design phase of the program design.Adaptation to climate and adverse weather reduced the impact of the built environment is also a important issue that we have to face. China's summer and cold winter region has extreme climatic conditions, combined with historical reasons, the architectural in this areas presence of ecological risks. This article for the summer and cold winter climate characteristics of the region, put forward that in the design phase of the program,energy-saving design techniques will be applied to the architectural space designs. From a more novel point of view and a more comprehensive understanding of summer and cold winter areas of building design for energy efficiency issues and put forward a series of effective, suitable for summer and cold winter region's building space energy-saving design.First this article analyzed and studied on space design, energy efficient design and hot summer and cold in winter climatic conditions. This article was divided into three main part. The first part is the external space design, focusing on general layout designs for energy saving techniques, use of outer space base environmental factors to achieve the energy saving in the external space,rational use of the construction location, orientation and the distance,control of construction space dimension. It also put forward a proposal design must concern– FAR. The second part is the interior design, through natural ventilation, natural lighting and a reasonable thermal environment,controlling the building body mass, control of construction within the spatial scale and other techniques to create the court room, court edge space, underground space and some organizational forms within the space to suitable summer and cold winter region. The third part is the gray space of energy-saving design. Ecological concepts and techniques of architectural practices infiltrated the creation of climate buffer space and summed up for summer and cold winter areas spatial organization of gray which is courtyard space, space and overhead space side of the court.
