This studies in 2009 and 2010 at main eco-area in Hunan with the large seed peanut Xiang Hua 2008 as experiment material, to study the effect on peanut's development stage, economic characteristic, yield under different sowing dates and plant density. And have made a first look in the climatic production potential in Hunan's main eco-area. Have some conclusions.1. The development stage of peanut under different sowing dates in every main eco-area shows great difference. The development stage of peanut has been shortened by delay sowing date. And the most effects was on the period of sowing-emerge. The yield of peanut near the sowing date 15th April was higher than sowing date 25th Match and 5th May. We can approximate the best sowing date is between 15th to 25th April. Accumulated temperature is increasing from the north of Hunan to the South, and the effective accumulated temperature in every eco-area is stably at 1750℃to 1800℃.2. Increase the density of peanut advisably (about 300000/ha) can not only Increase the length of bough and lateral branch, but also increase the yield. But the yield may decrease by influence the development of individual under the great higher density (350000/ha).3. We try to approximate the climatic production potential of spring peanut in Hunan for the first time. And found that the peanut's actual yield only attained 37% of climatic production potential, low temperature(below 10℃) and continuous rainy in seeding period and high temperature(above 35℃) limited the peanut's yield, but the peanut yield in Hunan Province still have a great potential.
